Enhancing Romance with Essential Oils

by tracey

KissWhile romance can be enjoyed all year long, there are certain occasions that call for romantic encounters. If you are planning an anniversary celebration or a Valentine’s Day excursion or you just want to reconnect with your significant other, essential oils can add to the romantic mood. You can add essential oils to enhance a massage, drop some in the tub to scent a shared bath or heat the oils in an oil burner so the fragrance spreads throughout the room.

There are several oils that have especially romantic scents and in some cases, are known aphrodisiacs. These oils can be blended together to create a romance-enhancing mix or used individually if a particular scent appeals to you. For a romantic massage mix, consider blending cedarwood, orange, clary sage and vanilla oil into a base oil. Use a few extra drops of vanilla, known to appeal to the romantic senses of both men and women. Another mix that works well for a romantic massage is sandalwood, ylang ylang, jasmine and orange oils, all of which can be blended into a base oil and used for a deep, sensual massage.

If you want to scent the air in your bedroom or throughout your home, heat oils like rose, sandalwood, ylang ylang, bergamont and jasmine in an oil burner.  You can mix these same oils with a cup of milk and add the blend to a warm bath. Choose candles in similar scents to burn while in the tub to add a warm glow and extra scent to the space.bed

A final option for adding romantic scent to your space is to mix a few drops of these oils with water and use a atomizer to spray your pillows and sheets. Essential oils can also be dropped onto a washcloth and added to the dryer when drying your sheets to add the scent. Cuddling in a set of scented sheets is a great way to spend some quality time with your loved one.
