Essential Oils for Treating Acne

by tracey

Acne is a fairly common skin problem. Some people suffer from the occasional pimple, while others deal with acne-prone skin for years. Regardless where you fall on the continuum of acne sufferers, there are several essential oils that can help you combat problems. These oils are all-natural skincare solutions, so whether you are trying to prevent an acne outbreak or you want to target a pimple, these can help.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is one of the most effective natural acne treatments available. It is antiseptic and helps to wash away dead skin cells that accumulate on the skin. It might be too strong for some users, so test a small drop or two or a patch of skin before applying it to your entire face.

Orange Oil

Orange oil is one of the two citrus oils great for treating acne. It contains vitamin C, so it boosts your immunity, enabling your system to better ward off acne outbreaks. Its acidic properties also help to clear skin.

Lemon Oil

Lemon oil is a great skin brightener, whether you suffer from acne or not. It also hardens sebum, which is the substance in the skin’s oil glands that triggers acne. It also features the same acidic properties as orange oil, so it helps keeps skin clear.

No matter which oil you choose to help you prevent or diminish acne, make sure you do not apply undiluted essential oils directly to your skin. You can mix a few drops of these oils with a gentler base oil or mix them into any cleansing or moisturizing products you use on your face. If you use a skin toner, and many who suffer from acne do, these are great oils to add to your toner solution.

There are also oil blends available to help prevent and eliminate acne. If you prefer a pre-blended option, try our Acne Ease blend, available in two difference sizes.
